2. The slobbering Saint Benard Charmin drooling at the look of food you can call them at 767-4534 to bring this animal a home.

This photo uses multiple rules of photography:
Simplicity- becuase it has a simple background that doesn't show the whole dog.
Cropping- there is selective cropping since it doesn't show the whole dog
Rule of Thirds-

News Value;
Human Interest- nobody wants to see the dog get put to sleep
Proximity- the dog was found close to my area
Lighting- this is a cellulite photo because of the properly placed lighting
The phtographer used a prime lens because it didn't have to be zoomed in

Make it Better:
move the subjet to the kennel so it could show some more human interest. a little bit more space from his nose to his paper. or to see the whole dog

5 Websites

5 Websites

One:

2.  While looking at this website, I found that the pictures of these different storms really caught my eye because of the way that their beaming lights were sometimes somewhat hidden behind the dark mysterious clouds. Also what I really loved about this website was the way that they the dark clouds made the environment glow and look very beautiful and bright.

3. I learned that in order to take this types of pictures you have to have a camera that can have the shutter speed to catch these lightings.

4.

5.
a.     I picked this photo because I really like how you can see how big the storm is compared to the city in the bottom left corner, and how vibrant all of the colors look.
b.     In this photo I see rule of thirds, because of where the city is set up.
c.    Paul Bica

Two:

2.   While looking at this website, I thought to myself that these pictures were very unique because most people don't like for glares to be in their photos but these photographers made the glares work for them. Also, I really liked how they could get the glares in day time and night time.

3.
I liked that in order to take these pictures you have to have a certain lighting, and be standing in a certain position to catch these types of effects.
4.

5.
a.
I picked this photo because I like how all the glares in this photo make the body of the person stand out a lot.
b.
In the picture, I kind of see simplicity. Because your main focus is the guy himself, BUT there is a lot of things that could be distracting to the eye.
c.

2.  While I was looking at this website I noticed I really got interested in it because I love trees, and I love the way that some of the pictures give you an eerie feeling because the dead tree itself.

3. I feel like in order to take these pictures you would need take them in a certain time of day to make the pictures come out the way you want them to be.

Four:

2.   While I was looking at this website, what really hooked me in was how unique the photographer was while taking this picture. They had a lot of creativity to take a picture while riding their bike, and show them while they were in motion.

3.
I learned that even though you're in motion, you can still have a good focused picture.
4.   If possible, post your favorite photo from the site.
5.
a.
I picked this picture because I like the view that you can catch from it and how you can see almost the whole bottom of the bike.
b.
In this picture I see rule of thirds by where the shoe is.

Magazine Part 2

1. Early Magazine Covers:
Early magazine covers really don't look like covers from today. They don't look like covers at all actually. The cover was usually used for the title and table of contents. Sometimes the covers were set up like book covers. They didn't really have words explaining what the magazine would be about and only contained publication information. Most of them had small pictures as well. Later in the years the Early Magazine Covers, were improved and set up a little differently.

2. The Poster Cover:
The poster covers were obviously poster like, over sized posters. Famous illustrators work was printed on the cover and sometimes inside the magazine as well. Sometimes the pictures that were on the cover really didn't relate to what the magazine was about. At first, cover lines were not used frequently, but later in the years, cover lines became an important part of cover design.

3. Pictures Married To Type:
As the years went on cover lines were becoming common and useful with all magazines. A couple improvements were made though and new styles were discovered. A large title started to be used and sometimes the model would overlap part of the title. Models were used more too, nearly full body pose. The number of cover lines started to increase on the cover. The cover lines mostly are about the people who contributed on making the cover/ magazine. A description was not yet used until about the 1960's. The cover also included the name of the month.

4. In the Forest of Words:
Going into the 21'st century, cover lines were important just as cover art was. Cover lines even started to be larger than the magazines name itself. Poster covers/ magazines with no cover lines or just a few have become hard to find. The cover lines even overlapped the model or portrait that was on the cover. Over the years the number of cover lines on a cover have increased to inform the buyer on what the magazine will be about.

Magazine Tips

1. Never trim a printout, mount it beautifully, and display it with its alternates on the finely polished surface of the conference-room table.

2.  No matter what you put on the cover, keep the six functions of covers in mind

3. Gather copies of what your targets might be reading, including your competition, of course. Mock up an executive’s in-box or tabletop arrangement in some way, and place yours among them.

4.  Don't judge your cover on-screen because the screen is the wrong size, no matter how big it is. You can’t see it intimately as if it were in your hands.

5.  Go to the local drugstore or bookstore, and sneak your upcoming issue in among the other magazines on the racks.
